4 Tips to finding a boyfriend

Even the sassiest single gals reach a point where the realize: "I want a boyfriend." Here are 4 tips to keep in mind in order to find your new boyfriend.

TIP #1: LOOK AND FEEL YOUR BEST
Your second grade teacher may have taught you that it's what is on the inside that counts, but, unfortunately, men's instincts towards women haven't really matured past kindergarten. Before a man will spend the time to find out what a fascinating, caring, kind person you are, he will (subtly or perhaps, not so subtly) scope out your body and appearance and make a snap judgment on whether he thinks you are a potentially date-worthy or not.

This doesn't mean you have to look like Megan Fox or go around wearing club clothes all the time to muster approval, but you should look put-together when in public. Consider it an audition process. You wouldn't show up to a job interview looking sloppy, so even when you don't anticipate meeting anyone, it's a good idea to always look your best when attending social functions. Coco Chanel famously once said, "I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possible for destiny."

TIP #2: BE (OR AT THE VERY LEAST, LOOK) HAPPY
Being single is stressful. And, even worse, the transition from singleton to girlfriend is loaded with even more potential stressors. However, it's important whether you're just meeting someone or you're already dating him and waiting to be promoted to girlfriend status, that you always seem happy and content with where you are in life.
No man wants to be around, let alone date someone who's a drama queen, so if things are stressing you out, do your best to deal with it on your own.

TIP #3: EXPLORE NEW POSSIBILITIES
Just because you've only dated tall, blonde guys from Connecticut in the past, doesn't mean you have to continue only dating that type of men. By opening yourself up to the possibility of dating different varieties of men, not only does your dating pool grow exponentially, but you might grow personally as well by getting to know people you might not otherwise. Besides, after a string of New England WASPS, a brooding, dark-haired guy from South Carolina might just be what you need.

TIP #4: BUT BE DISCRIMINATING
Fact: there are a lot of men in the world, but, sadly, not all of them are boyfriend material. So while it's important that while you are open (see tip #3), you also need to be discriminating in whom you choose to invest your time with. Some men, especially alpha male types, will tell you upfront that they are not interested in settling down – others may lead you on. But in either scenario, there's no point in wasting valuable time trying to turn an apple into an orange. At the end of the day it's about finding the right boyfriend, and not just settling for anyone.
